Comment: One of the best star rubies available in recent years. Especially its lush cherry red in combination with a semi-translucent body is extremely rare. The asterism is pretty perfect and (this is a first time for us) runs through on both sides of the cabochon. Though the back-side star is not as perfect as the front it is a quite remarkable effect. The overall appearance is round even if it is strictly spoken oval. This ruby comes from an old Burmese family and was mined a full century ago in Mogok.
